“The Snoek Carrier” is one of a set of 24 watercolours, painted cka. 1850 by an artist at the Cape known only by his initials “J.W.”
It is the “Fishing Industry News” logo, which under a user’s agreement, has been adopted by the South African Fisheries Museum.
The original appeared in “Sketches of various types of the Cape of Good Hope”, in London 1851, and is now in the State Library in Pretoria.
